NBA 2020 All-Star List Announced

On Wednesday the NBA announced their line-up for their annual and highly anticipated Celebrity All-Star Game and premiered the uniform.

This year the game will be held on February 14 in Chicago, Illinois. Home town of team captains, Chance the Rapper and Common.

The roster includes Chance The Rapper Quavo, Taylor Benett, Laroyce Hawkin, Anthony ‘Spice’ Adams, Marc Lasry, Ronnie 2k, Katelyn Ohashi, Lil Rel Howery, A’ja Wilson and Darius Miles.

Common’s team includes Bad Bunny, Hannibal Buress, Kane Brown, Jon Batiste, Alex Moffat, Jose Andres, Famous Los, Jidenna, Chelsea Gray and Quentin Richardson.

Having trouble recognizing the names on the list? You weren’t the only one. A lot of fans took to Twitter and Instagram to express their confusion on this “celebrity” list. Some Twitter users even nicknamed the game Civilian All-Stars.

Some fans felt the game should have featured more Chi-town natives like Lil Durk and Barack Obama. Others felt the list should have featured more well known celebrities in general like Kevin Hart.

Due to the lack of known celebrities, social media users predict that the usual highly anticipated game will fall short of their expectations just as the line-up has.

This year’s line-up does have some familiar faces. Quavo and Famous Los both played in the game last year, while this year's team captains Chance the Rapper and Common both performed. Along with Taylor Benett, the teammate and brother of Chance The Rapper.

The performers for this year's show have not been announced yet.

If you’re still debating on whether or not you’ll tune in due to the roster there still may be something to look forward to. Since the game format has been altered to honor the late Kobe Bryant.

At the end of January the NBA tweeted their new format and explained that it is designed to make every quarter count as a donation for charity. The changes to the fourth quarter are what they will use to honor Kobe Bryant. The fourth quarter will not be timed, each team will have the opportunity to add 24 points to their scoreboard. Whoever adds 24 points first will be crowned winner of the game, even if the other team has more points overall.
