Waka and Tammy: What The Flocka Premiere and Twitter Reactions

This hip-hop couple may be known from Tammy’s role on VH1’s Love and Hip Hop Atlanta, Waka Flocka’s successful rap career, or both Waka Flocka and Tammy Rivera’s time on Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars season twelve.

Now the couple has their own reality show which gives fans an inside look into their marriage, parenthood, and life with the in-laws.

Waka and Tammy: What The Flocka premiered on WeTV last night March 12, 2020. This pilot episode titled ‘Marriage Is Chaos’ uncovered many issues within the lives of Waka, Tammy and their teenage daughter Charlie that fans can hope to see resolved as the season progresses.

In this first episode viewers see that reality star and R&B singer, Tammy Rivera, is feeling the pressure when it comes to balancing her life as a mother, wife, artist and daughter-in-law. Charlie struggles with moving to a new neighborhood and having to make new friends. The relationship between Tammy and Waka’s mother is revealed to be a difficult one. Waka, although at the beginning of the episode seems to not give in to the stress like Tammy, reveals that he feels as if there are too many dictators in his life and he wants to regain his control.

In a powerful moment between Waka and his mother, Debra Antney, he reveals that he wants to seek counseling.

Between Waka’s counseling comments and Tammy expressing that playing all the different roles she is expected to have stresses her out. Fans of Waka and Tammy took to Twitter to give their two cents.

Many fans believe that Waka’s comments about not having control in his life, as well as wanting to seek counseling to first better himself and then his marriage were powerful. Some Twitter users applauded Waka for taking the necessary steps to receiving therapy. There has been a stigma around therapy and/or counseling in minority communities for years.

Other Twitter users expressed that they believe Debra and Mona, Tammy’s mother, are being too forceful when it comes to the topic of grandchildren.

Overall, the first episode of Waka and Tammy: What The Flocka left viewers wanting more!
