2017, was the year of Fyre Fest. Most of us remember the Fyre Fest scandal because it exposed peoples character. Lets just say Fyre Fest never happened and it left a bad taste in everyones mouth.
Migos, Pusha T, Blink-182 and more were set to perform during this star-studded festival. Migos was originally paid $100,000 to perform at Fyre Fest. Even though the festival was cancelled they were still dragged into some mess.
According to The Blast court documents read, “The Defendant shall pay the total sum of $30,000.00 (the ‘Settlement Payment’), as full and final settlement and complete satisfaction of any claims the Trustee has raised against the Defendant,”. The settlement was between Migos and the trustee overseeing the festival’s bankruptcy, Gregory Messer. In a settlement, Migos was ordered to pay back part of their Fyre Festival money.
Fyre Fest was definitely one for the books especially for rapper JaRule and Fyre Fest founder, Billy McFarland. JaRule didn’t get time in prison but people still have a grudge against him for the scam. Billy McFarland is serving a six year sentence for fraud charges in regards to the event. He was also ordered to pay $26 million in restitution.
Rumors have been heard about Fyre Fest happening formal this time. I’m not sure I believe it.
