The NBA has announced that it will be reopening its training facilities in accordance with the state and city governments that have allowed or will be allowing non-essentials business to return to operation.
However, the use of the practice facilities will be limited as the organization still prioritizes and warrants the safety of their staff and players. The NBA continues to follow guidelines set out by the CDC and other health organizations by setting forth restrictions for the use of team practice facilities.
The team practice facilities that will be reopened are for voluntary treatments or workouts. The expected date for the reopening is May 8, 2020.
The restrictions associated with use of the facilities are:
No more than four players would be permitted at a facility at any one time.
No head or assistant coaches could participate.
Group activity remains prohibited, including practices or scrimmages.
Players remain prohibited from using non-team facilities such as public health clubs, fitness centers, or gyms.
The NBA has not announced what (if any) disciplinary actions players will face if they use the team practice facilities while not abiding by the guidelines.
