Oprah Will Give The Commencement Speech At Facebook And Instagram's Graduation Ceremony

News broke at the beginning of the week that Instagram and their parent company, Facebook, will be broadcasting a special event for the high school and college graduating class of 2020 across the country on May 15 at 2 p.m. EST.

In a statement released on the ‘About’ Facebook Newsroom, Marne Levine, the vice president of global partnerships, announced that the ceremony will have high profile celebrities and athletes in attendance to give the commencement address.

Oprah Winfrey, Awkwafina, Jennifer Garner, Lil Nas X, and Simone Biles are the only commencement address speakers to be named thus far.

The only performer to be named is Miley Cyrus, who is expected to perform her hit song from “Hannah Montana: The Movie”, ‘The Climb’.

Facebook and Instagram are making the ceremony slightly more personal by sharing a video via Facebook Watch, where colleges and high schools will be acknowledged by name and state.

More special features will be added to both Facebook and Instagram in efforts of personalizing the virtual graduation experience. To read more click here.
