Wilson Will Be The NBA’s New Official Game Ball Starting With The 2021-2022 Season
Spalding and the NBA are no longer associated. The National Basketball Association will reunite with Wilson Sporting Goods Co. in 2021.
The change is in accordance with the NBA’s 75th anniversary and applies to the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA), NBA G League, NBA 2k League and Basketball Africa League (BAL).
For the NBA, this venture is one that returns the association to their roots. Wilson and the NBA partnered for 37 years, starting in 1946. Wilson manufactured the first official NBA basketball that same year.
It is not clear how long the new partnership between the NBA and Wilson Sporting is expected to last.
While some NBA fans are excited to see the two brands reunite and believe that Wilson Sporting Goods is a better manufacturer, others speculate that Spalding’s separation from the NBA will put them out of business.
