Super Cyclone Amphan To Hit India and Bangladesh Wednesday Evening

Evacuation has begun in Bangladesh and India as the countries prepare for Cyclone Amphan to hit landfall Wednesday evening. Cyclone Amphan is the second largest cyclone to strike the Bay of Bengal in recorded history. BAY OF Bengal is in the middle of west India and northwest Bangladesh.

Government officials are preparing for the aftermath of the storm which they believe will include a major spike in the amount of COVID-19 cases.

Prior to the storm, India raised its lock down, which was said to be the longest lockdown in the world.

According to Aljazeera, Bangladesh is capable of sheltering 5 million people however, only approximately 2 million people are being evacuated in the areas that Super Cyclone Amphan is supposed to hit.

Super Cyclone Amphan has reached wind speeds up to 145 miles per hour which is the equivalent of a category 3 hurricane.
