NYC Beaches Are Open For Memorial Day Weekend With Restrictions

Beaches in many states, including New York, will be opened this Memorial Day weekend. But restrictions on what beachgoers are allowed to do have been made. One of the major restrictions for visitors is that there is no swimming allowed. Other beaches are limiting the amount of people allowed on the beach at a time, allowing only half of the people capacity.

Rockaway Beach and Coney Island Beach are a couple of the commonly known beaches in NYC and are among the beaches where swimming is not allowed.

It is not clear what if any repercussions people will face if they violate the guidelines for the beaches. In NYC fines were given to people who violated the city’s social distancing order. Which raises the question, will NYPD be giving out a lot of fines this weekend?

Many of us are excited for a long weekend. Although this is a holiday celebrated by many Americans and fun is a scarcity right now, we shouldn’t forget the health crisis we are dealing with.

During this weekend where people normally get together with friends and family at the annual cookout, however ,this year we should all make sure to remember to practice social distancing guidelines set forth by the Center for Disease Control.

The guidelines advice to keep a minimum distance of 6 feet at all times to help prevent the contraction of COVID-19.
