Major Stores Pull Washington Redskins Merchandise Amid Discussion of Name Change

Several major retailers have stopped the sale of  Washington Redskins’ merchandise amid discussions surrounding the team's name. Walmart, Target, and Dick’s Sporting Goods made sure the items were unavailable on their sites on Monday.

At the start of the holiday weekend Walmart stated that they would be “…discontinuing the sale of items that reference the team’s name and logo.” Shortly after the team made their announcement regarding the review of their name.

Over the holiday weekend the Redskins’ coach, Ron Rivera, stated that it would be “awesome” if the team could change its nickname by the start of the season which is set to begin in September.

Trump seemingly defends the Washington Redskins current name as well as the name of the Cleveland Indians, a Major League Baseball team.
