Living legend Mariah Carey has announced that she will be releasing a memoir this fall.
“It took me a lifetime to have the courage and the clarity to write my memoir.” said Carey. “I want to tell the story of the moments – the ups and the downs, the triumphs and traumas. The debacles and the creams. That contributed to the person I am today.”
Carey, 50, continued to explain the trouble she’s had communicating “the complexities and depths” of her experience through various mediums such as articles and interviews that “filtered” her words.
She explains that memoir is how she lets her truth be known and gives the child in her as well as the woman she’s become a chance to “tell her side”.
The memoir is titled The Meaning Of Mariah Carey and will be released September 29 and is currently available for preorder.
Carey originally announced that she would be publishing a memoir in 2018 and the wait has finally come to an end approximately two years later.
In her 30-year career, there are a lot of things fans are hoping to get the inside scoop on. From a look at her childhood, to her career, to past relationships - including former marriage with Nick Cannon and former engagement with James Packer. But one thing fans can put their money on is Carey going in depth about being bipolar. In 2018 – around the same time she announced the creation of her memoir – Carey told the world that she was diagnosed with a bipolar disorder in 2001.
“Writing this memoir was incredibly hard, humbling and healing. My sincere hope is that you are moved to a new understanding, not only about me, but also about the resilience of the human spirit.”
