Tyra Banks will once again grace your television screens as the new host and executive producer of ABC’s Dancing With The Stars (DWTS).
Banks is making history as she is the show’s first Black and solo female host. Banks, however, has some big shoes to fill as she is expected to live up to the hosting criteria of DWTS’ former host Tom Bergeron. Bergeron was with the show for all 28 seasons – 15 years.
On Good Morning America, Banks promised viewers that the 29th season will be “next level.” “Get Ready ‘cause it’s gonna be different” she continued. During her interview Banks expressed her excitement for breaking down the barriers, which the world knows she is no stranger to doing. “ I like breaking those doors down so that we don’t have any more firsts, but it’s nice to be first, right?
Banks’ executive producer title means that she will be doing a lot more than the typical host. She will be working with the shows’ producers and creators to bring new ideas to the show.
Earlier this week DWTS veteran host Bergeron tweeted that he was not asked to return to the show. “It's been an incredible 15 year run and the most unexpected gift of my career. I'm grateful for that and for the lifelong friendships made. That said, now what am I supposed to do with all of these glitter masks?” Bergeron said.
The change in hosts and addition to the creative team has got fans wondering what Banks has in store for the 29th season of DWTS – set to premiere in fall – and will it truly be “next level” as she promised?
