Start the countdown clocks and clutch your pearls because Beyoncé is dropping a new project.
The music icon is releasing her new visual album on July 31. The project is titled ‘Black is King’ and will be featuring many of the Black kings and queens that have contributed to black culture. Some of the individuals that were featured in the ‘Black is King’ trailer that Bey previewed on Sunday are Naomi Campbell, Lupita Nyong’o, Kelly Rowland, Pharrell Williams and her very own mother, Tina Knowles Lawson.
‘Black is King’ was written, directed and executive produced by Beyoncé and will be exclusively available to stream on Disney Plus.
Beyoncé has released several visual albums many of which included songs with powerful messages. Being in the middle of a racial revolution - and factoring in Bey’s and Jay-Z’s public advocacy for justice and social reform - many are left wondering what the theme of this album will be? As there is just so much to choose from.
‘Black is King’ was inspired by Disney’s "The Lion King: The Gift" soundtrack and “reimagines the lessons from the 2019 blockbuster for today’s young kings and queens in search of their own crowns.”
