The US Has Secured A $1.95 Billion Contract With Pfizer and BioNTech For Coronavirus Vaccines

 

The United States has signed a contract to secure 100 million doses of Pfizer, BioNTech experimental coronavirus vaccines. The 
US is paying about $1.95 billion for the vaccines according to CNBC

 

Pfizer and BioNTech together are developing four potential vaccines. The companies said, Americans will be able to receive the vaccine for free. 

 

Trump said Tuesday at a briefing that “the vaccines are coming, and they’re coming a lot sooner than anyone thought possible, by years.”

 

“We’ve been committed to making the impossible possible by working tirelessly to develop and produce in record time a safe and effective vaccine to help bring an end to this global health crisis,” Dr. Albert Bourla, chairman and CEO of Pfizer, said in a statement. “We made the early decision to begin clinical work and large-scale manufacturing at our own risk to ensure that product would be available immediately if our clinical trials prove successful and an Emergency Use Authorization is granted.”
