2 Chainz recently teamed up with our forever first lady, Michelle Obama, and her When We All Vote organization to help educate inmates about voting rights for life after incarceration.
“As you know, or may not know, me as well as many peers of my age and where I’m from have been incarcerated maybe once or twice in their lifetime. For those of you that have been through those unfortunate circumstances, I would like to notify you about some of the things and give you some real clarity about voting and your rights.”
2 Chainz continues by breaking down the voting rights for three states where people never lose their right to vote even while incarcerated - Maine, Vermont and D.C.
2 Chainz also informed viewers that each state has different laws and emphasized that the information pertaining to voting rights is free.
“I really feel like this election matters more than any other election of our lifetime. I wanna do my part to spread that information because I know many people feel like their voice doesn’t matter or their vote doesn’t count, or they don’t even have the opportunity to do so.”
On the 2 Chainz and When We All Vote registration site, visitors are instructed to visit RestoreYourVote.org to determine their voting eligibility.
Restore Your Vote is a free tool and was set up by the Campaign Legal Center. This site can also be used as a voter registration according to the informational YouTube video.
2 Chainz is one of the most recent celebrities to emphasize the importance of voting in the upcoming Nov. 3 election. However, we will just have to wait to see if his efforts, as well as the efforts of other Hollywood stars, pays off.
