Many people on social media find humor in the First Lady appearing miserable around the president and the rest of the family. Well, we are finally learning the truth behind the infamously unimpressed look of Melania Trump. Stephanie Winston Wolkoff worked as an event planner for Vogue Magazine, a gig that helped establish her longtime friendship with Melania Trump and allowed her to put together the president’s inauguration celebration. The recently published “Melania and Me” details all of the salacious tea that Wolkoff sipped while she was a VIP member of Melania’s clique. She describes what she witnessed as “deceit” and “deception”. One of the most juiciest takeaways from the book is Wolkoffs account of the tension between Melania and Ivanka, as well as Ivanka's husband Jared Kushner. Wolkoff alleges that Melania is a massive fan of emojis, and one time sent her a text message describing the two white house advisors as snakes. It has long been reported that Melania isn’t the biggest fan of Ivanka, so hearing these details from someone who was close to the family all but confirms that Donald Trump's two favorite women don't get along.
Wolkoff isn’t some fly by night source, she was friends with Melania for 15 years. Wolkoff explained that the two only fell out two years ago, when Melania “betrayed” her. Wolkoff explained that Melania failed to publicly defend her from accusations that she was mismanaging funds from the 2016 inauguration. The white house has denounced the book, describing it as a “twisting” of the truth. A spokesperson for the first lady states: "The book is not only full of mistruths and paranoia, it is based on some imagined need for revenge… Sadly, this is a deeply insecure woman whose need to be relevant defies logic."
The book also details strange tidbits about the life of Melania Trump. One particularly strange story Wolkoff explains was Melania’s refusal to move into the white house for the first five months, until the shower and toilets used by the Obamas had been completely removed. Also, Walkoff talks about Donald Trump rejecting Melania’s interior design choices. Overall, this should be an interesting book for Melania Trump fans to gain a sense of connection to the first lady, who has an air of mystery like no other.
As Trump seeks re-election in November, this is just one of many books about him that you can expect to hit shelves within the coming months.
