Federal Court Blocks Trump's Plan To Exclude Undocumented Immigrants From 2020 Census

According to The Hill, a federal court ruled Thursday that President Trump's order to exclude undocumented immigrants from census numbers for apportioning congressional districts is unlawful. Trump has been trying to exclude undocumented immigrants from participating in anything having to do with politics.

A federal panel including three judges ruled against his order. The court ruled Trump’s order unlawful as it violates certain federal laws.

"We declare the Presidential Memorandum to be an unlawful exercise of the authority granted to the President by statute," the three-judge panel unanimously ruled.

The ruling prohibits the Department of Commerce from reporting any information regarding undocumented immigrants in its census count that could be used to implement the president's directive.

Even though the federal court has made their decision this issue could still be appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court.
