Trump Has His Eyes On Amy Coney Barrett

In the hours that followed the passing of justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Mitch McConnell would assure the American public that we will be moving forward with President Trump’s SCOTUS nominee. This was a controversial announcement, considering that McConnell rejected former President Barack Obama’s SCOTUS nominee, stating that there would be no nominations so close to Election Day. At that time, only nine months stood in the way of nominating judge Merrick Garland and the November election. Today, we are two months away from Election Day. McConnell has changed his tune, clearly due to the benefit that nominating a replacement has for the Republican party.

Last week, it was reported that Trump had his sights set on replacing Ruth, long before she passed away. At a rally in North Carolina, he confirmed what many have been speculating. Trump’s replacement pick will be a woman.“I will be putting forth a nominee next week. It will be a woman,” Trump said. “I think it should be a woman because I actually like women much more than men.”

Trump has expressed interest in Amy Coney Barrett, a conservative who he believes is right for the job. Barrett has been on DJT’s radar since 2018, but he’s always viewed her as somewhat of a secret weapon. Strategically keeping her concealed for the right moment. “I’m saving her for Ginsburg,” Trump said, when conversations began about replacing Anthony Kennedy, when he retired. Barrett is of the 7th Circuit position, which she was appointed to in 2017. She is as conservative as conservative gets, interpreting the constitution through what she thinks the writers intended it.

Barrett believes that life starts at conception, therefore if she is appointed you can expect her to potentially overturn the 1973 Roe vs Wade Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion nationwide. How much does Amy love children? The devout catholic is a mother of seven children, two of which were adopted from Haiti. Many progressives are concerned about whether or not Amy’s strong religious beliefs are going to skew the way she interprets laws.

Nevertheless, if appointed Amy Coney Barrett has the potential to change the course of history and expedite eradicating Roe V. Wade - something conservatives have been looking forward to doing for quite some time.
