#NewMusicFriday: Have You Heard This Heat?

We’re back with another list of ten newly released tracks and projects that are a must listen!

Tobi Lou - Student Loans

Tobi Lou has been bringing a different kind of alternative Rap for years now, and everything he drops fits his style and personality. This new track comes off a little harder than what his fans would be used to, but that’s what makes it so good! This new single has such a high replay value and displays his versatility as an artist.

Bryson Tiller - Anniversary (Album)

The long awaited arrival of another Bryson Tiller Album has come! Besides the lack of promotion, it’s clear that this album release was very personal for Tiller, seeing as it was debuted on the same day TrapSoul was released 5 years ago; hence the name Anniversary. Tiller stays true to himself and his vision by having Drake as his only feature. The album displays how much he’s grown as a man and as an artist.

Megan Thee Stallion & Young Thug - Don’t Stop

Megan has been very consistent with the content and music lately, and we love to see it! Some have started to feel like she isn’t versatile and that most songs sound like others but this new track definitely shuts those folks up. The beat itself is different from the kind of sound that Megan has played with before so a switch up of her flow is to be expected. Young Thug adds to the song tremendously and compliments Megan instead of overshadowing her or just acting as a big name feature. This is one that will bump hard in the whip!

Smoke Dza - HomeGrown (Album)

Smoke Dza has not been letting up with the releases this year; he’s been ensuring that ya’ll don’t forget about him, but how can you? With features from Jack Harlow, Jim Jones, Cam’ron, Curren$y and Wiz Khalifa, Dza is making the effort to involve both the newer school rappers and the old school on this project; displays his duality. While the album is majority features, with one song as an exception, his vision and sound can be heard clear as day throughout the half an hour long album.

Fivio Foregin & Polo G - Bop It

A few weeks ago a video of Fivio Forgein surfaced and this was the song playing in the background. There were a few jokes going around about Fivis flow so he took the jokes and made a bop, literally. While the Polo G feature was an expected surprise, it was clear the song was coming to us. Not only is it clever, but it’s catchy too. Then again, what Fivio Foregin track isn’t?

21 Savage - Savage Mode 2 (Album)

The streets have been itching for this one, Metro and 21 Savage are one hell of a duo! It’s amazing to see the amount of growth 21 Savage has had as an artist. It’s clear that he’s not a rapper that releases music just to release music, he takes his time and shows in the sound. After seeing this trailer, who wouldn’t be excited to hear this project? With 15 tracks and features from only Drake, Young Thug, and Young Nudy, it’s clear the kind of bag Savage is in.

Kiana Lede & Jacob Collier - In Too Deep

It’s always been clear that Kiana Lede can sing, but she is SANGING on this record. Allowing herself to just compliment and not overshadow Jacob Collier, who also displayed his strong vocal talents, Kiana controls her voice in a way that we haven’t heard from her yet. Maintaining her falsetto so beautifully with the lyrics hitting just right - this track is definitely a hidden gem.

YG - My Life 4Hunnid (Album)

This 32 minute long album takes you on a journey through YG’s life. Usually, all of his solo music is very tied to his past and present dealings living on the WestCoast as a man of the streets, but this one feels a little more personal. The interlude of his daughter giving her account of when YG was arrested in their home, gives the whole project a more personal feel. Features from Lil Tjay, Gunna, Ty Dolla Sign, and more allows the album to have more of a chance for radio play - and it deserves it.

Giveon - When it’s All Said and Done(EP)

How is it possible to put such beautiful notes and heart wrenching words in just 10 minutes? This new EP from Giveon proves that he very well might be the new King of R&B in the next few years, if he hasn’t proven himself already. The smooth and sultry sounds allow you to drift away to his voice, until the stark silence of it’s ending brings you back to reality. Warning: very likely to get you in your bag.

Jorja Smith & Popcaan - Come Over

Popcaan has been killing it with the features lately! It’s been awhile since we’ve heard any new music from Jorja Smith and I think this was the best track for her to resurface with. While her Carribean accent may need some work, the song itself is something you can do a little slow whine to without a problem, and Popcaan is the icing on the cake - as usual.
