Leslie Jones Does Not Miss SNL At All

Leslie Jones was able to live the dream many comics have, when she secured a role on NBC’s flagship program Saturday Night Live. The 53-year old actress got her start in 2014 as a writer for the show. In season 40, Jones was added to the main cast after a controversial one off appearance. From there, her career hit the ground running and she hasn’t looked back since.

Jones left the show in May of 2019, and is now hosting a revamped version of “Supermarket Sweep,” premiering Sunday. The show is a revamped version of the same game that aired in the late 1960’s.

Jones' success on SNL opened the door for many major opportunities. In 2016, Jones received a breakout role in the iconic Ghostbusters franchise. In 2017 Leslie hosted the BET Awards. The following year Jones landed a gig covering the Olympic Games. Since her departure from the show, Jones has had roles in “The Angry Birds Movie 2” and “Coming 2 America.” Leslie has been all over Hollywood thanks to her Emmy nominated performances on SNL.

Over a year after making her final appearance on the show, Leslie says she does not miss her Saturday night gig. Jones spoke with ET about how excited she was for her new hosting gig, as well as the difficulty of mending her SNL role.

Jones simply told ET “I don’t miss it. At all,” when asked about the show that launched her career. Jones explained, “That job was hard, man. That job was like two jobs and very restrictive, too. I wasn’t very free there,” she claims that her new role as host of supermarket sweep, allows for a little more creative freedom.

“Supermarket Sweep'' is set to air on ABC, making it Jones’ second starring role on one of America’s leading television networks. Despite her feelings on SNL, the show has definitely helped her resume quite a bit. Congratulations to Leslie on her new gig.
