Coca-Cola Will Cut 200 Drink Brands Before 2021

If you didn’t know Coca-Cola is just an umbrella for a few other popular drink brands. They own drinks like Fanta, Sprite, Dasani, Fuze and more. Well, they are cutting at least 200 beverage brands by the end of the year.

According to CNN, the beverage giant had already announced that it will discontinue some beloved, if outdated, drinks, like Tab, Zico and Odwalla. Thursday was the first time the company said it would get rid of 200 of them.

Coca-Cola said that the cut down of drink brands will help them focus on their most profitable offerings.

“Throughout this year’s crisis, our system has remained focused on its beverages for life strategy,” Coca Cola’s chairman and CEO James Quincey said in a statement. “We are accelerating our transformation that was already underway, shaping our company to recover faster than the broader economic recovery. While many challenges still lie ahead, our progress in the quarter gives me confidence we are on the right path.”

Coca-Cola’s CEO said water and sport drink volumes fell 11% in the third quarter. Was this because the whole world was experiencing the COVID-19 pandemic? Popular drink brands like Dasani and Powerade may also see cuts, Quincey said.

If you are looking to purchase certain Coke products you better act fast. They will be discontinued by December 31.
