Dababy's Charges Dropped In Walmart Shooting That Killed 19-Year Old Jaylin Craig

Dababy managed to only receive probation in a 2018 shooting in Huntersville that left one dead.
Charlotte Rapper Dababy, whose real name is Jonathan Kirk, was involved in a shooting in November of 2018 at a Huntersville Walmart, leaving Jaylin Craig, 19, dead. In an Instagram video, Dababy would deny these allegations stating that “Two dudes walk in on you and your whole family, threatening y’all, whip out on y’all, let me see what y’all going to do,” saying that he there with his two children and baby mother. Stating that the two confronted him while he was buying them new baby clothes. The two groups would begin to fight as a shot rang out, hitting Craig in the abdomen; he would die at the scene.
Kirks mother denies this, saying that “everyone ran with it because the rapper said it was a robbery,” claiming that “There was never a robbery. Ever.”
Charges would later be filed against the rapper for shooting as well as carrying a concealed firearm. Dababy would plead guilty to the concealed firearm charge and was sentenced to 30 days in jail. The sentence was later suspended, and he received one year of probation.
The charges relating to the shooting would later be dismissed after a key witness failed to be located. The prosecution asked for a continuance but was denied. The D.A. stated that no additional charges would be filed against Dababy.
Dababy walked out of the courtroom, not saying any words to the family of Jalyn Craig. His mother later stated that "We feel like we didn’t get any justice.”
