French Montana popped up like “new body - who dis?” in his latest cover shoot for XXL magazine, and people are having a hard time believing the rapper is that ripped.

When the photos dropped, there was speculation in the comments of several blogs. “Did he get his body done like Drake” - “That’s cap, he spray painted his abs” … Just to give you an idea as to how everyone reacted to seeing French’s new look.

French clapped back to all the naysayers with a behind the scenes video from the photoshoot.

"They said I spray painted my six pack on. I got catfished too many times to catfish my people lol," French wrote in the caption. "I just got to it! Nothing beats hard work and always remember there is some people out there that do not want you to be great #2021

Montana is one year removed from being hospitalized in Los Angeles for issues related to his heart rate. He would spend over a week in the ICU, fighting for his life at a time when he should've been celebrating. He was coming off the heels of his 35th birthday, and was gearing up for a major album release. French revealed that from that moment, he began his journey of leading a healthier life.

He told XXL that his lifestyle was a contributing factor in his declining health. "I was running' for like a good 20 years without a break, and God put a stop to that.” Attributing the rigorous schedule and expectations of a multi-platinum recording artist to his crash in late 2019. However, the nature of the game was not the only thing keeping French down. He revealed that he was battling an addiction to a combination of prescription drugs.

"I feel like 90 percent of musicians on that” says the Unforgettable rapper, when discussing his addiction to Percocet and Adderall, which started to stay up and serve as a pain relief. It ultimately became a “hobby” according to French, and it further took a toll on his body.

Today, French chasing a brand new high, with his new lease on life. It was just overdoing something for too long," French continues. "And, to the point where, now sober is becoming my new high.”
