Lamar Odom To Step Into The Boxing Ring

Lamar Odom is a 2x NBA champion, so the basketball court is where his bread is buttered. However, that hasn’t stopped the 41-year old from trying his hand at various other things. We’ve constantly seen Odom in situations that may seem out of his element, from Dancing With The Stars, to starring in several seasons of his own reality show with former spouse Khloe Kardashian. We know that Lamar Odom is an adventurous spirit, which is why his latest venture isn’t much of a surprise to those who follow him.

It was announced early Wednesday that the ex-NBA star has signed a deal with Celebrity Boxing. This Summer, Odom will enter the ring on June 12 at the Showboat Casino in Atlantic City, NJ.

As of now, Odom does not have an opponent scheduled to fight. However, the creator of Celebrity Boxing Damon Feldman, is working on booking another big name celebrity to step into the ring with Lamar.

Lamar Odom’s biggest fight thus far was in the Fall of 2015, when he was hospitalized after being found unconscious at a Nevada brothel. He had been abusing cocaine and a viagra-like substance according to the Nevada Sheriff at the time. Since making it out of that situation alive, Odom has been devoting his life to being sober and drug free.

Odom has been on and off the court in the years that followed. In November of 2018, he announced that he’d be returning to the court through rapper Ice Cube’s Big 3 Basketball league. Odom played one game for the league, as a member of the “Enemies” team.It was his first appearance in a professional game since May 3, 2013 when he was a member of the Los Angeles Clippers. This ultimately did not pan out, as Odom was deactivated from the league shortly thereafter. The reason was due to Odom not being able to play at an acceptable level, and having health issues preventing him from playing at the standard they had desired. At the time, Odom had hoped to play one season in China before ultimately retiring from the sport.

The last former NBA star to step into the ring was Nate Robinson, who suffered a second round knockout by YouTube sensation Jake Paul. Odom who stands at 6’10 has a stark height advantage, which will hopefully work in his favor and he won’t suffer the same fate as his NBA comrad.

He’s been on a recent health kick, largely due to his most recent relationship with fitness professional and life coach Sabrina Parr who had been helping whip him back into shape. However, there had been trouble in paradise and the two are no longer together. The most recent headlines regarding the two, was Odom accusing Parr of holding his social media accounts ‘hostage’.
