Lebron James Shows How Excited He Is For "Space Jam: A New Legacy"

There are a couple childhood classics that always felt like they didn’t need a revamp, and Space Jam is one classics. The idea to have Lebron James be a part of a more modern Space Jam was brought up by fans a few years ago but it didn’t feel as though anyone was taking it seriously, until now. Just yesterday, Lebron James posted the first video teaser of Space Jam: A New Legacy on his Instagram.

Space Jam: A New Legacy is scheduled to hit theaters and HBOMax during the summer on July 16th. In August, James shared an inside look at the new uniforms for the film. He was shown joining the Tune Squad and featured a large orange circle taking over the left side of the kit with a light blue background.

Produced by James and Ryan Coogler, this sequel will star a number of NBA players such as Anothny Davis, Klay Thompson, Chris Paul, and Damian Lillard. There will be “key roles” for WNBA superstars Diana Taurasi and sisters Chiney and Nneka Ogumike, said Athletic reporter Shams Charania.

When speaking about the film after it was announced in 2018 James stated “The Space Jam collaboration is so much more than just me and the Looney Tunes getting together and doing this's so much bigger. I'd just love for kids to understand how empowered they can feel and how empowered they can be if they don't just give up on their dreams.” to The Hollywood Reporter.

We’re all looking forward to the more modern revamp of an old school classic. Space Jam; A New Legacy will be out in theaters and HBOMax on July 16th,2021.
