Lil Yachty Developing An Uno Movie With Mattel Films

Lil Yachty is developing a film based on the card game Uno alongside Mattel films, with the rapper positioned to play the lead.

You can expect an action heist comedy, with the screenplay written by Marcy Kelly. The film will be set in Atlanta and will have a hip-hop storyline.

Yachty will be working on the film as a producer alongside his Quality Control family, Kevin “Coach K” Lee, Pierre “P” Thomas, and Brian Sher under Quality Films.

Lil Yachty: “I’m so excited to be part of this film with Mattel. I played Uno as a kid and still do today, so to spin that into a movie based on the Atlanta hip hop scene I came out of is really special. It hits close to home for me.”

As mentioned by Mattel Films in their press release - Uno is a game that transcends generations and cultures. It was invented in 1971 in a Cincinnati barbershop. The game quickly went from being a regular family card game to a global phenomenon, played in more than 80 countries.

According to Mattel, Uno will be taken to the next level in celebration of its 50th anniversary. Mattel will be releasing one of the brand’s largest product lines offering new twists on gameplay, is planning a global Uno tournament, and is collaborating with a variety of iconic names across art, fashion, sports, and more.

Mattel Films is working on a chain of live-action film adaptations of their most popular brands. They aim to bring these brands that are already popular amongst children to life in “unexpected ways”, says Robbie Brenner, who serves as the executive producer of the Uno film.

According to Dateline, American Girl, Barbie, Hot Wheels, Magic 8 Ball, Major Matt Mason, Masters of the Universe, Thomas & Friends, View-Master, and Wishbone are all in the works.
