Mayor Bill de Blasio says NYC will cancel all Trump Organization Contracts Following Capitol Attack

The attack at Capitol Hill was the final straw for many in the endless saga that has been Donald Trump’s presidency. One person in particular who is wiping his hands clean of all things Trump, is mayor Bill De Blasio

De Blasio has announced plans to sever its contracts with the Trump Organization.

He took to his Twitter page to sound off , calling the President and insurrectionist. De Blasio wrote: “New York City doesn’t do business with insurrectionists. We’re taking steps to TERMINATE agreements with the Trump Organization to operate the Central Park Carousel, Wollman and Lasker skating rinks, and the Ferry Point Golf Course.”

De Blasio says that he wants these sites to continue to operate and serve the people of New York City, just not under the leadership of a “criminal”. He will be seeking other vendors to do business with, and take over operations quickly.

De Blasio expects the president to challenge them in court, to which he says he is positive they are on strong legal ground.

The Trump Organization has responded since, indicating that they will not back down in court: "The City of New York has no legal right to end our contracts and if they elect to proceed, they will owe The Trump Organization over $30 million dollars. This is nothing more than political discrimination, an attempt to infringe on the First Amendment and we plan to fight vigorously," - a Trump org representative told The Hill.

This announcement comes in the midst of the House moving towards impeaching Trump for his role in the attacks.

Trump’s relationship with New York City has declined since taking office. The man who was once synonymous with the city, changed his official legal residence from Trump Towers to Florida. During his re-election campaign, Trump bashed New York City referring to it as an “anarchist jurisdiction.”
