NYC Transit Closures

Late Sunday evening Mayor De Blasio declared a state of emergency in New York City … All vehicles were restricted from the road until about 6:00 AM.

Today, above ground subway service in New York City has been suspended due to the nor'easter storm. Subway lines across Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx will be affected. Long Island Railroad and Metro North trains will also shut down as well.

New York City busses are still running but are likely to be suspended as well.

Governor Cuomo held a news conference where he called this a “life threatening” situation, due to the possibility of someone getting stranded and not being able to get home.

"I want New Yorkers to hear me loud and clear -- stay home and off the roads," says the governor.

Underground subway service remains intact, this is what happened during a 2016 snowstorm in New York City. The only time all subway service was suspended during a snowstorm was in 2015. Like the bus service, this will likely change.

Governor Cuomo wants New Yorkers to plan road closures in Westchester and Long Island.

This could be a historic snowstorm due to the amount of snow expected to cover the state. It’s possible that 2 feet of snow will bury the city before the storm passes.

New York City and the Tri-state were pummeled by snow. This storm saw snowfall rates as much as 3 inches an hour.
