Suspect in Colorado mass shooting faces Ten murder counts; victims identified

A 21-year old man faces ten counts of murder connected with Monday's mass shooting at a Colorado grocery store, officials stated on Tuesday.

The suspect was listed in stable condition after being injured in an exchange of gunfire with police officers on Monday evening.

The ten victims, whose names were released on Tuesday morning, included a range of ages from twenty to sixty-five and included Eric Talley, an 11-year veteran of the Boulder police force. According to a report released by his father, Talley, 51, was the father of seven children and was recently looking for a less risky career.

Officials have not yet submitted a possible reason for the tragic bloodshed, which occurred six days after a gunman went on a killing rampage in Atlanta, fatally shooting eight people.

Monday's shooting attracted hundreds of police officers to the scene and sent terrified customers and associates racing for safety.

"My heart hurts today," Governor Jared Polis told the briefing. "Not only did we lose ten lives, but this is real fear and horror for all of us."

Bystanders in Colorado reported a turbulent and terrifying scene inside the store.

Ryan Borowski, 37 years of age, went into the store looking for something to satisfy a sugar desire. He picked up a 12-pack of drinks and a bag of chips when he heard shots fire, sending him running for the store's back door exit.

"It was pretty terrifying," he said. "Fastest fire drill I've ever been in.

Sarah Moonshadow, 42, was at the checkout line with her adult son, Nicholas when the gunfire began.

"And I said, 'Nicholas, get down.' And Nicholas ducked. And we just started listening and there, just repetitive shots ... and I just said, 'Nicholas, run,'" she said.

Moonshadow said she tried to tend to a victim she saw lying on the pavement outside, but her son pulled her away, telling her, 'We have to go.'" She broke down in tears recounting their ordeal, replying, "I couldn't help anybody."
