Texas Cops Say Tesla Crash That Killed Two Had No Driver

On Saturday, two passengers were killed in a crash with a Tesla Model S in Spring, Texas. Though there were two passengers in the car no one was driving the vehicle. One passenger was seated in the front passenger seat while the other was sitting in the back seat. Constable Mark Herman, the head of the Harris County police precinct told CNN, "I can tell you our investigators are certain no one was in the driver's seat at the time of the crash.”

The 2019 Tesla Model S was apparently was unable to navigate a curve which caused the vehicle to travel off of the road and hit some trees. Herman said evidence suggests that the car was moving at a “High rate”.

According to NBC News, deputies used more than 30,000 gallons of water to extinguish the flames because the vehicle's battery kept reigniting the fire, authorities said. Shares of Tesla Inc have dropped 2.5% in premarket trading today after the crash. As of now, the crash is still under investigation.
