The Weeknd Reveals His Notorious LP "House Of Balloons' Is Coming To Streaming Platforms

The Weeknd's notorious 2011 mixtape "House Of Balloons' arguably jump started his career and put him on the path to become the star he is today. The nine-track project made a path for the Toronto native to thrive and express himself accordingly and was later carried on to the Weeknd's more pop-centric tracks.

With the 10th anniversary of the project quickly approaching, The Weeknd is blessing fans with a gift in the form of releasing House of Balloons on streaming platforms for the first time. The Weeknd is set to drop the mixtape on Sunday, March 21, ten years to the project's debut. It will be in its original form, which luckily included all the original samples.

The Weeknd plans to release exclusive merchandise to celebrate the anniversary to add to the release's excitement. One of the apparel items drop's key pieces featuring a collaboration with Daniel Arsham, who remixed the notorious cover art. The drop will also include 1,000 limit edition vinyl for the project. Supporters can purchase at The Weeknd online store beginning on March 21 at 3 pm. EST for a 48 hour period.

"The summer of 2011 will always be marked by House of Balloons," Arsham said in a statement. "Like a time travel device, the album transports me back to that specific moment in time every time I listen. It is a great privilege to work with The Weeknd and the XO team to reimagine the iconic album art of House of Balloons as an eroded sculpture for the 10th anniversary."

The Weeknd has a lot to celebrate despite being snubbed by this year's Grammys. A year after his newest studio album release, After Hours, the 31-year-old singer continues to receive platinum plaques.

"After Hours" was declared platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America prior in March, as well as "In Your Eyes" and "Save Your Tears." "Heartless" officially became 2x-platinum, while the album's biggest single, "Blinding Lights," is now a huge 7x-platinum. "Blinding Lights" also just became the first song ever to reside in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 for a whole year.
