Tyler, the Creator Unveils Music For New Coca-Cola Commercial

Coca-Cola has recently employed Tyler, The Creator, to produce their latest commercial.

The ad launched on Sunday (Feb. 21) on YouTube with Wolf Haley featuring the video on his Twitter page. "I provided Coca-Cola with all the sounds for this," The OF (Odd Future) co-founder tweeted. The Commercial runs about 2:12 minutes in length and is titled "Open That Coca-Cola," it shows people enjoying Coca-Cola on a seemingly hot day, which then leads them to break out into planned out dances in the next sequence. Tyler's unique beat brings the entire commercial together, with its spacy chords and deep bass.

"Drum are f*cking hard the low end is shaking," Tyler said on Twitter. "That's me playing the flute in the beginning," he added, unveiling more about the story behind the beat.

Tyler later admitted that he was initially reluctant to accept Coke's offer to create the music, but he's glad he did and is hyped about the outcome. "Mannnnn thanks coca-cola for really big love for this opportunity," he added. "At first, I was like, ehh idk but then I f*cking ran with it. commercials need sounds like this, thankssss."

But this isn't the rapper's first time Tyler has been involved in a commercial. In 2013, Tyler directed a Mountain Dew ad. The commercial, which included a criminal goat, later received a tremendous amount of backlash for being misogynist and racist and was quickly taken down by the beverage company.

Tyler defends his Mountain Dew project, denying that either of the claims was true. "It's not gonna change my art in any way," he said later. "I just hope that somehow, if it gets bigger or if it disappears tomorrow, that it just opens people's minds up. I still can't believe someone sat there and pointed out that it was all Black people, instead of being confused that it was a goat talking. That's unbelievable. That's mind-blowing that people think like that."
